Many of my patients have flight anxiety that I treat with acupuncture and herbs. Here's what one patient e-mailed me about her experience flying on her second international flight for work after staying at home with her son for two years, "I wanted you to know that I did manage to “beat” jet lag AND flight anxiety. I am so happy, tired, but happy. Thank you very much for all your help getting me to this place of confidence in coming back to this work that I truly love".

Pregnant Participants Needed for Long-term Children's Health Study
Volunteers Needed for NIH Children’s Study
(The following is from the NIH website)
Expecting a baby? You might be able to volunteer for the National Children’s Study. This ambitious research project aims to uncover how genes and the environment affect children’s health. The study will follow children from before birth until age 21. It’s the largest long-term study of children’s health ever conducted in the U.S.
Women who are or may become pregnant in the next few years may be eligible to enroll if they live near 1 of the 37 study locations across the country (see www.nationalchildrensstudy.gov/studylocations). Volunteers will fill out questionnaires about their environment and family health histories. Later, they and their children may be asked to visit clinics at study centers.
By analyzing this information, researchers expect to gain understanding of how the food we eat, the chemicals we’re exposed to and other factors might interact with genes to affect health and growth.
“The National Children’s Study is an investment in the future of our nation’s children,” says Dr. Alan Guttmacher, director of NIH’s Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. “Through their participation, women and their families can help in the search for information to improve the health, development and well-being of future generations.”

College Students With Food Allergies Needed For Survey
The following is from the advocacy group Food Allergy Initiative
Managing Food Allergies at College Are you a college student or recent graduate? To serve you better, we want to hear your views and learn about your experiences. Please take a few minutes to fill out our college survey!
For many of us, going to college is a major life passage. But if you have a food allergy, you do have a few extra challenges to deal with. Often, it's the first time students are completely on their own – and fully responsible for managing their food allergies.
The good news is that many schools have established food allergy management policies and programs. Those that have gone the extra mile include Brown University and Franklin and Marshall College, which offer allergy-free kitchens, and Stanford University, which has a peanut-free dining hall. Such programs have evolved in response to a landmark 2009 study published by researchers in the University of Michigan Division of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, which pertained to the management of food allergy among college students. This study identified many problems that both students and Universities face in providing safe dining experiences on campus. As a result, the University of Michigan's food allergy management program is one of the most comprehensive in the country.
Schools' food allergy policies and practices vary widely, so you'll need to do some research when considering where to apply. Read more for tips to help make your college years rewarding and safe... and to learn even more, consider attending FAAN's Teen Summit (please see below), which will offer sessions on college and food allergies.

Recover, Restore, Reenergize Retreat for Breast Cancer Survivors
Yesterday, I had an wonderful and extensive conversation with Rhonda M. Smith, Founder of Breast Cancer Partner. Rhonda's experience as a breast cancer survivor brings such deep love and concern for the ongoing physical and spiritual health of others who have been through the same experience. While speaking with her I felt her warm, focused energy, her passion for life and for her work. Our conversation was inspirational!
On her website, Rhonda describes her mission.
"Our goal is to help shepherd survivors through the recovery process by providing information, resources, guidance and tools to effectively deal with life post-treatment. We recognize that in some cases life after treatment ends may be more challenging and difficult than while undergoing treatment. We want to ensure that survivors don’t struggle unnecessarily through the recovery process.

We recognize that in some cases life after treatment ends may be more challenging and difficult than while undergoing treatment. We want to ensure that survivors don’t struggle unnecessarily through the recovery process.
We also recognize that, as survivors, in order to truly thrive in our lives after treatment we must focus on more than just the medical aspect of our recovery and our survivorship care plan. This is why Breast Cancer Partner offers a more holistic approach to breast cancer recovery, i.e. integrating the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of healing".

Message from Breast Cancer Partner Founder, Rhonda Smith
Greetings,
I know from my own journey through breast cancer what a triumph
it is to overcome the fear of diagnosis, of treatment and – perhaps –
even of the possibility of dying. And, after this the next most
important thing for of breast cancer survivors– or any cancer, for
that matter – is conquering the fear of a recurrence and staying
cancer free. However, once surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment are over,
there is no manual, prescription or remedy to help survivors recover from the physical,
emotional and mental impact of the experience. As I discovered, as well as many other
survivors like me, there’s little help to be found to restore oneself back to normal,
whatever that “new normal” may be.
I created Breast Cancer Partner to help survivors embrace their “new” normal and
navigate through life, with ease, after treatment ends. We are a partner, a resource, a
guide in helping breast-cancer survivors understand how to recover from the experience,
restore their lives back to normal and reenergize themselves after treatment. We aspire
to empower breast-cancer survivors to take their survivorship and quality of life to a
whole new level.
The Recover, Restore, Reenergize Retreat for Breast Cancer Survivors: “Creating Your
Health and Wellness Plan for Living Life After Treatment” is an important part of that
process. Optimizing one’s health and wellness as a breast-cancer survivor is the key to
reducing the risk of recurrence, enhancing survivorship and living a long, healthy,
vibrant and well-balanced life. To achieve this, it’s crucial to have a health and wellness
plan – a survivorship plan -- as a roadmap.
As a breast-cancer survivor, I know how important it is to be aware of the options,
information, tools and resources available to help achieve optimum health and wellness
for living life after treatment. Only then can survivors make well-informed decisions to
ensure that recovery is a life-enhancing, not a life-limiting, event.
We hope that you are inspired to partner with us to help my fellow breast-cancer
survivors recover, restore and reenergize after treatment, so that we can all live a life
that is full of vitality, cancer free and without fear!

Tapped: The Full Movie. Water, water everywhere but plastic bottles are making us sick!
This movie will change the way your drink water, the water that you drink, and inspire you to reduce the amount of plastics you use in life. Bottled water poses grave health risks to those of us who drink it, to those who live near plastics manufacturing plants, and to our environment.
The movie is excellent so gather your friends, family and kids and watch this together.
